TechFlame reports that the New York class-action lawsuit against TaskUs has been amended to include charges of systemic security failures and concealment of incidents related to Coinbase customer data breaches.
The revised indictment was filed in New York's Southern District Federal Court on Tuesday, adding important details previously disclosed relating to the processing of Coinbase's customer data in this large-scale leak — from the origin of the incident at the end of 2024 to the final disclosure by Coinbase in May of this year, with an estimated loss of up to $400 million.
A Coinbase spokesperson said, “This is a criminal bribery scheme that began in late 2024, using external vendors and a small number of Coinbase Customer Experience (CX) employees located outside the US to commit social engineering scams against less than 1% of monthly active trading users.”
