According to TechFlame, the 107 analysts surveyed by Reuters almost agree that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates by 25 basis points on September 17, as a weak job market overshadows the risk of inflation. Most analysts expect further interest rate cuts next quarter.
Employment growth stagnated in August, combined with a sharp drop in employment data for the past 12 months, prompted economists to lower their expectations, believing that the Federal Reserve may cut interest rates even more. The market has completely absorbed the September interest rate cuts and is expected to cut interest rates three times this year.
Michael Gapen, chief US analyst at Morgan Stanley, said that a 25 basis point rate cut in September is more likely than a more drastic rate cut.
