According to TechFlame, the US Department of Justice has filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit against Bitcoin (BTC) worth more than $5 million. US Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced that the funds were allegedly unjust wealth from multiple SIM card exchange attacks targeting victims across the US. According to the indictment, the funds can be traced back to the theft of the five victims' cryptocurrency wallets and unauthorized cryptocurrency transfers, and the theft occurred between October 29, 2022 and March 21, 2023.
