TechFlame reports that the so-called Europol (Europol) reward 50,000 dollars to track down the administrator of the Russian ransomware gang Qilin is actually just a Telegram scam. This false reward news deceived several cybersecurity news media into believing that Europol would pay rewards to anyone who could provide information on HAISE and xOracle, the two Qilin administrators. Allegedly, the two are responsible for “coordinating affiliated organizations and overseeing extortion activities,” while Europol wants intelligence that “directly leads to the identification or location of these managers.” However, Europol confirmed to Security Week that the so-called bounty was actually a “scam” and that the agency has never issued such a reward.
