A criminal impersonated a senior British law enforcement official to trick victims into entering a wallet seed phrase on a phishing website through social engineering, and successfully stole around $2.8 million (
2.1 million euros) of bitcoins.According to a police report, the scammer claimed that an arrested suspect's mobile phone contained the victim's identity documents and urged it to “protect” the assets. The victim then entered a recovery phrase on a carefully designed
