TechFlame reports that Federal Reserve Chairman Powell will deliver a key speech at this annual gathering in Wyoming this Friday evening, Beijing time. Meanwhile, the newly released higher-than-expected inflation data has prompted some traders to lower their expectations of interest rate cuts, while still insisting on the judgment of cutting interest rates next month.
Ian Lyngen (Ian Lyngen), head of US interest rate strategy at BMO Capital Markets, said in a research report that as the market prepares for Powell's speech in Jackson Hole, the biggest risk facing US debt is that the chairman of the Federal Reserve may throw cold water on the September interest rate cut generally anticipated by the market.
Currently, about 325,000 options positions (costing about 10 million US dollars) are expected to profit as much as 100 million US dollars if the Federal Reserve cuts interest rates by 50 basis points at the September policy meeting. Furthermore, current market pricing shows that the probability of cutting interest rates by 25 basis points at the September 16-17 meeting is about 80%. (Gold 10)
