According to TechFlame, according to Cointelegraph, blockchain protocol Concordium released a mobile age verification application based on zero-knowledge proofs (zk-proofs), which supports iOS and Android systems. After users pay $0.01 to create an encrypted digital identity, they can prove attributes such as age (such as nationality, date of birth) to third party services, and actual information will not be disclosed to the service provider.
The launch of the app comes at a time when the UK enforces new age verification rules for adult content access on August 1, sparking controversy over privacy protection. The UK Communications Authority (Ofcom) guidelines allow the adoption of reusable digital identity wallet solutions that meet data protection standards, and Concordium said it is in talks with Ofcom about compliance.
Google Wallet integrated zero-knowledge proof technology for age verification in April, indicating that the technology is gradually penetrating into non-cryptographic scenarios.
