According to TechFlame, according to Decrypt, Charles O. Parks III (screen name “CP3O”) from Nebraska, USA, was jailed for one year and one day for planning an illegal “cryptojacking” scheme worth 3.5 million dollars. By stealing cloud computing resources and illegally mining, he made a profit of nearly $1 million and used it to buy luxury goods.
Parks has paid a $500,000 fine and a Mercedes-Benz. The amount of compensation is yet to be determined. According to reports, he pretended to be an education platform to defraud cloud service providers of computing resources to mine Ethereum, Litecoin, and Monero, and launder money through exchanges and banks.
