TechFlame reports that according to Decrypt, Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill, the two co-founders of the cryptocurrency mixing service Samourai Wallet, faced up to 5 years in prison after admitting on Wednesday that they conspired to operate an unlicensed remittance business. As part of the plea agreement, the US Department of Justice agreed to drop the more serious money laundering charge — a charge punishable by up to 20 years in prison, according to the Department of Justice's sentencing guidelines. However, charges of illegal remittance operations are punishable by up to 5 years in prison. Both initially pleaded not guilty to the charges, but court documents showed that they had changed their plea positions.
