TechFlame News, citing Bitcoin.com, reported that Gurinder Singh Josan MP and Lord Vaizey, co-chairs of the UK's All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Cryptocurrency and Digital Assets, have written to the chief executives of major UK banks, demanding they clarify whether they provide account services to crypto businesses, what restrictions they impose on digital asset transactions, and whether these policies will be adjusted as the UK's new regulatory framework takes shape. The lawmakers pointed out that bank access may be the single biggest obstacle to the growth of UK crypto and digital asset businesses, and that if licensed crypto firms still cannot obtain basic banking services, the competitiveness goals of the new regulatory regime will be hard to achieve. Treasury Economic Secretary Lucy Rigby has previously stated that FCA-authorized crypto firms should not face banking service restrictions solely due to the nature of their industry. The deadline for submitting written evidence to this inquiry is August 31, after which the APPG will put forward policy recommendations to the government.
