TechFlame News: Michael Saylor, founder of Strategy, stated that only 2.6% of miners have signaled support for BIP-110, which has failed to gain widespread backing. At block 961,632, his node will reject blocks that do not signal. Following this, BIP-110 will either stall or fork into an inconsequential existence, while Bitcoin will continue operating normally. Bitcoin is functioning as designed.
BIP-110 is a temporary soft fork proposal that plans to introduce 7 new consensus restrictions over a roughly one-year effective period, including limiting new script public key lengths, part of pushed data and witness item sizes, and disabling certain Taproot extension paths, in order to significantly reduce arbitrary non-payment data that can be embedded in transactions, such as inscriptions and runes. This aims to lower node burdens, curb junk data, and keep Bitcoin more focused on its monetary use case.
