TechFlame News: Ondo Finance has announced the launch of the new Ondo Network, positioned as a high-performance execution layer designed to combine the transaction speed of centralized exchanges (CEXs) with the non-custodial, secure settlement capabilities of blockchain. Ondo CEO Ian De Bode stated that the Ondo Network is an "evolved version" of the earlier Ondo Chain initiative, and the company will not operate both networks simultaneously. Instead, it has shifted its roadmap from building a full blockchain to focusing on an execution layer architecture. According to the announcement, Ondo initially planned to bring real-world assets (RWAs) fully on-chain through Ondo Chain. However, during the development of the Ondo Perps perpetual contract trading platform and interactions with users, it became clear that the current core bottleneck in the market is not asset settlement, but transaction execution efficiency. The Ondo Network adopts an architecture that separates execution, validation, and settlement. By using secure hardware to isolate the execution environment, it enhances transaction speed while maintaining user asset self-custody, transaction verifiability, and permissionless blockchain features. Currently, Ondo Perps has become the first application built on this network, supporting 24-hour trading of stock and commodity perpetual contracts and allowing tokenized real-world assets as collateral. Ondo indicated that in the future, the network could also support spot trading, lending, structured products, and other applications requiring high performance, privacy protection, and verifiable execution. Additionally, the launch of the Ondo Network will not change the positioning of the ONDO token. The CEO stated that ONDO will continue to serve as a governance and incentive token for the Ondo RWA ecosystem and market infrastructure. As the network gradually decentralizes, ONDO will be used to coordinate incentive mechanisms for validators, observers, and ecosystem participants.
