TechFlame News — According to Decrypt, UK Labour MP Phil Brickell has referred Reform UK leader Nigel Farage to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, requesting an investigation into whether he improperly lobbied the Bank of England on cryptocurrency policy after receiving substantial financial support from Christopher Harborne, a major investor in Tether.
Reports indicate that during a private meeting with Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey in September 2025, Farage argued against launching a central bank digital currency, dubbed "Britcoin," and opposed imposing limits on individual holdings of stablecoins.
Christopher Harborne is said to hold approximately 12% of Tether’s equity, and previously provided Farage with an undeclared personal gift of £5 million, while also donating around £15 million to Reform UK.
