**TechFlame News** – U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent stated during a Senate Finance Committee hearing that the Treasury Department is moving forward on "a prudent and steady pace" with President Trump's executive order to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve for the United States. He emphasized that the department will adopt "best practices" to ensure the mechanism's long-term sustainability. Bessent noted that the strategic Bitcoin reserve is a new frontier with complex implementation, and the government is carefully developing a custody and management framework. Currently, the U.S. government holds approximately 328,400 Bitcoins, valued at around $20.6 billion, primarily obtained through criminal and civil asset forfeitures. Additionally, Bessent urged Congress to advance the CLARITY Act, a digital asset market structure bill he believes is crucial to maintaining U.S. leadership in digital asset innovation. The bill aims to clarify the regulatory framework for digital assets and define when crypto tokens are subject to securities or commodities regulations. The legislation is currently under Senate review.
