TechFlame reports that Tether has partnered with Fasset to launch the world's first gold-backed Visa card. Users can spend fiat currency at any Visa-accepting merchant worldwide while earning up to 6% cashback in the form of XAUT gold tokens on qualifying transactions.
The card supports real-time conversion of XAUT into USDT and then into fiat currency, and also features an automatic rounding-up function that invests the spare change from transactions into XAUT gold tokens, enabling passive gold accumulation through everyday spending.
Tether has committed up to $1 million in XAUT as rewards to support the ecosystem, helping to drive the adoption of tokenized gold in emerging markets. The total market capitalization of tokenized gold currently exceeds $5.3 billion, with XAUT accounting for more than $2.6 billion of that.
