This follows earlier reports suggesting that Iran was collecting Strait of Hormuz tolls in "cryptocurrency." Earlier in the day, Haji Babaei, the Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, stated that Iran had received the first payment for crossing the Strait of Hormuz and deposited it into the central bank’s account.
