TechFlame reports that the Solana Foundation has announced its intention to position the Solana network as the core infrastructure for the emerging "agentic internet," a model in which economic activities are initiated and executed by AI systems rather than humans. At the Digital Asset Summit in New York, Vibhu Norby, Chief Product Officer of the Solana Foundation, stated that AI is not a single vertical industry but a platform-level transformation affecting various sectors, including cryptocurrency. The strategic focus of Solana lies in its payment infrastructure, with the network having processed approximately 15 million on-chain payments initiated by agents, primarily for machine-to-machine commercial transactions. The programmability of crypto payments is a key attraction for agents, and stablecoins are poised to become the default method for paying for any computational resources. Vibhu Norby believes this will fundamentally reshape internet business models, enabling micropayments and pay-per-use models that traditional payment channels cannot support. The Solana Foundation emphasized that its high-performance design offers advantages in this new paradigm: "Agents are cool, precise machines... If you ask an agent how to pay with crypto, Solana is often the top choice." Furthermore, advancements in AI technology have lowered the barrier to development, and Solana developers are building tools directly for AI systems, including machine-readable "skill" files and AI-first development platforms. Norby anticipates that in the future, user interactions with cryptocurrency will default to agents, with 95% to 99% of transactions initiated by large language models (LLMs).
