According to U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno, a supporter of cryptocurrency, the highly anticipated CLARITY Act, which aims to provide a clearer regulatory framework for the U.S. crypto industry, is expected to pass by April.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, who joined Moreno in the interview, explained that they are participating in the World Liberty Financial (WLF) Crypto Forum alongside representatives from the crypto industry, banking sector, and the U.S. Congress, with the goal of reaching solutions on market structure issues.
"One major issue that has arisen in the past is the idea of interest-bearing stablecoins," Armstrong said. The banking industry previously worried that offering stablecoin yields could weaken traditional banking, leading to deposits and interest flowing away from banks. Although Armstrong had disagreements with the draft and withdrew his support for the CLARITY Act in January, he now says there is "a path forward where we can achieve a triple win here. This is a win for the crypto industry, a win for banks, and a win for American consumers, allowing President Trump’s crypto agenda to proceed smoothly and positioning the U.S. as the world’s crypto capital," Armstrong added.
