TechFlame News: The Jupiter DAO has initiated a governance vote on the "Zero Net Emissions" proposal for the JUP token, with voting open until February 22. The proposal aims to improve JUP's current historically low price performance by canceling the 2026 Jupuary airdrop event to avoid further token dilution.
The vote offers two options: Option 1 is to proceed with the Jupuary airdrop as originally planned, launching the airdrop checker approximately one week after the vote concludes and distributing 200 million JUP, while continuing the existing team allocation and Mercurial incentive program. Option 2 is to indefinitely postpone the Jupuary airdrop, returning the prepared 700 million tokens to the community's cold multi-signature wallet and suspending the emission of the team's reserved share. If Option 2 is approved, Jupiter will use balance sheet funds to repurchase tokens released into the market, offsetting selling pressure from Mercurial holders.
