On November 13, news broke that EigenCloud, an Ethereum restaking platform, and LayerZero, a full-chain interoperability protocol, jointly launched EigenZero. EigenZero is a decentralized verification network built on the CryptoEconomic DVN Framework, powered by EigenCloud's infrastructure and backed by approximately $5 million worth of staked ZRO tokens. It introduces economic penalty mechanisms for cross-chain message verification. Adopting the Optimism verification model, EigenZero operates under the assumption that messages are correct by default, with an 11-day challenge period. If a message is proven to be erroneous or malicious after final confirmation, the corresponding staked assets will be slashed, thereby providing security assurances for cross-chain applications.
