This manifesto clearly articulates a series of related values, including credible neutrality, self-custody, verifiability, and resistance to the "convenient" centralized model. The full text of the manifesto is stored entirely in the form of an on-chain contract and provides a single operation: pledge(). This contract has no owner, no administrator, and its text content cannot be edited. All operations rely on the Ethereum network. When the pledge() operation is invoked, the system records the caller's address and the timestamp of their first pledge, while emitting a public Pledged(address, timestamp) event. This operation only consumes gas fees and does not offer any form of incentive, such as airdrops, points, or early access privileges. If relevant parties make the pledge, it signifies their commitment to the importance of user-authorized operations, their unwillingness to rely on private servers and opaque relayers in their protocols, and their readiness to bear the actual costs to uphold Ethereum's trustless nature.
