TechFlame reports that Bitcoin has fallen below $100,000, hitting its lowest level since June, sparking market concerns: Is a new "crypto winter" (i.e., a prolonged bear market for cryptocurrencies) on the horizon? This fear resurfaces every time cryptocurrencies experience a sharp decline in a short period.
However, Matt Hougan, Chief Investment Officer at Bitwise, suggests that while retail investors are in a state of "maximum despair," he believes this could indicate that the market bottom is near rather than far off. With the support of Wall Street institutional investors and financial advisors for Bitcoin, along with the growth of cryptocurrency ETFs, he even boldly states that it is not impossible for Bitcoin to reach a new all-time high before the end of the year, despite the current intense sell-off.
In an interview on Tuesday, he remarked, "It’s almost a tale of two markets. Crypto retail investors are in maximum despair. We’re seeing leveraged positions being liquidated... Sentiment in the crypto-native retail market is more pessimistic than I’ve ever seen."
But Hougan believes that more cryptocurrency trading is gradually shifting toward institutionally dominated markets, "and interestingly, this market remains bullish."
