TechFlame reports that Bitcoin lending platform Lava has secured $200 million in funding and launched a new product—Bitcoin Line of Credit (BLOC). Similar to securities-backed loans or home equity lines of credit, BLOC enables users to borrow flexibly using Bitcoin as collateral, without the typical monthly repayments or term restrictions common in the current Bitcoin-backed lending market.
Additionally, Lava has onboarded two prominent angel investors: Bitcoin investor and entrepreneur Anthony Pompliano, and Eric Jackson, founder of EMJ Capital. Lava is a closed-source, self-custody wallet that allows users to obtain loans of up to 50% of their Bitcoin balance (in USD equivalent) through its app. Most loan products and USD payment channels require no personal information, setting Lava apart from competitors and positioning it between pure DeFi and more modern crypto-financial institutions.
Moreover, Lava offers a "liquidation protection" feature, which automatically draws funds from users’ deposited Bitcoin balance to top up their collateral account, safeguarding them against liquidation during periods of extreme Bitcoin price volatility.
